I went to walk in the park, the two mile loop. When I got to the top of the first rise, I started to run. I thought, I'll just run to the bottom of the hill and then walk. I was listening to my ipod. Ted Nugent was on. So I was all jazzed up.
I ran down the hill, granted I ran slowly, but I was running. I met a guy coming the other way, who was running UP the hill. He was about 80. I'm not kidding. Ok. That made me determined to run a little farther. So I figured I'd run on the flat ground, too. I ended running the whole rest of the way, about 1.8 miles. Possibly the farthest I've ever run in my life.
Naturally, I got slower and slower as I went, but I did not stop and I did not walk. Also, it helped to run to the beat of the music, which went from Ted Nugent to, oh, sleepy church hymns but hey.
1.8 miles. I am the man.

Greetings from across the pond BBrother!
Try running to 'Money for nothing' by Dire Straits. I used to row to it and it took me way, way further and faster than any other music I have tried!! I have a long, live version on a CD which I could ship over for you!
cheers,
David
