Home

Made it home. Left Jamee and Daron's house at 4:30 am PDT, got home at 9 pm EDT for a total of 14 hours in the air or waiting. Last night, I watched a special on the first automobile drive cross country, from San Francisco to NYC, in 1903. Took 63 days. It is called "Horatio's Drive: America's First Road Trip" and it's on PBS. I tried to find it online. Look for it on TV.

Cindy and I drove through southeast Oregon in the same general area that Horatio did. Our speed limit was 55, which is Oregon's way of producing revenue in the form of speeding tickets. Horatio had to stop for days at a time waiting for the train or the stage coach to bring spare parts, when the car broke down. He paid almost as much for gas at general stores as we do today. In other words, he paid about $60 a gallon for gas in today's dollars.

We are wussies.

I am not going to spend a lot of time tonight as it's late. Just know that we had the time of our lives, with Jamee, Stevie, and Loni, and Daron, the kids, and the only, the ONLY thing wrong was that TK was not there. We missed you, man. We love you.

I will download a directory of images from the trip, when I figure out how to do it.

Between walking the last two weeks and riding tonight (just now) I figure I did about 50 miles, so my total is 2,210 and I'm on I94 headed toward Draper.
