Sunday is about over

There is a whole lotta nothin' in the middle of Wisconsin. I wish I were really there so I could meet all the Swedes. Tons of 'em. I had a young man in my Swedish class a few years ago at Walters State Community College, who is now in my seminary. He is taking an online Swedish class. So is his family. Cool. Or, rather, kul.

Loni came over and ate our veggie burgers with us. Then I helped her a little with homework. She made cookies and only let me eat a little of the dough and only two cookies. She is mean. Still it was good to see her again.

The Primary program was today. I love that. Olive, for those who know, sang louder than anyone, including Jeff Fredline, the choir director, who led them. You could hear her above the other 25 kids. She is 4. I could feel the Savior's presence there today and I could feel him laughing out loud at them, a holy chuckle and smile as they sang and gave their talks. How anyone could abuse these little ones or think that they are going to hell without baptism, I cannot tell. I swear, I can never be a cop because I'd be in jail after the first such call. Well, that was a happy ending to a happy story, now wasn't it?

Tomorrow I'm speaking at a conference of American water district managers. I will probably have them table dancing after 15 minutes. Then I get to come back and have a meeting with the boss and the assistant boss about the flooding last month that we are being graded on. I wish it would just end. We did a great job, saved lives, and yet they keep picking away. I've been through this before. They can't write up a national report and say, "Shucks, these guys did super." They have to find something like, "Could have had more pizza available for stressed out staff" or something. Although, come to think of it, I DID buy pizza for the staff one evening during a tornado outbreak right after the flooding. Hey!

Well, I'm going to bed and read Edgar Allen Poe. I love that guy. You know he wrote and was popular when Joseph Smith was alive and then when the Saints were expelled from Missouri and Illinois. I've been trying to find some reference to us, but so far...nil. Every time I try, I get vague references to Poe and lots of inflammatory crap about us. I give up. The people in the spacious building control the airwaves and the internet and the print. It's sort of like Hell Corporate HQ.
