One midnight shift

Today I rode zero miles, for a total of...oh, wait...never mind.

*************

Today I worked my last day forecast shift, and it was less busy, meaning it took forever to go by. Plus, I am working the midnight shift tonight. This is a weird situation, because the guy who relieved me for the evening shift, I will relieve again at midnight.

*************

I came home and took a benedryl, hoping to sleep at least four or five hours, and slept 1.5 hours and had bad dreams. So now it's after 9 pm and I'll probably go in at 10 pm, just to get some extra things done.

But quickly, back to the Book of Mormon:

“I shortly after arose from my bed, and, as usual, went to the necessary labors of the day; but, in attempting to work as at other times, I found my strength so exhausted as to render me entirely unable. My father, who was laboring along with me, discovered something to be wrong with me, and told me to go home. I started with the intention of going to the house; but, in attempting to cross the fence out of the field where we were, my strength entirely failed me, and I fell helpless on the ground, and for a time was quite unconscious of anything. The first thing that I can recollect was a voice speaking unto me, calling me by name. I looked up, and beheld the same messenger standing over my head, surrounded by light as before. He then again related unto me all that he had related to me the previous night, and commanded me to go to my father and tell him of the vision and commandments which I had received. I obeyed; I returned to my father in the field, and rehearsed the whole matter to him. He replied to me that it was of God, and told me to go and do as commanded by the messenger. I left the field, and went to the place where the messenger had told me the plates were deposited; and owing to the distinctness of the vision which I had had concerning it, I knew the place the instant that I arrived there"

There is a type or shadow or symbol of Christ here. Can you find it? Before you read on, just think about it for a moment or two. I'll give you my impression, and you might not see it that way, and that's okay.

Here's what I see. Joseph gets an assignment and tells his father about it. Joseph, Senior tells him it's of God and to go and do as he's been commanded. Joseph, Junior obeys without question.

Heavenly Father commands His Son to go and fulfill His assigned duties as Savior, and Jesus obeys his Father without question. Also, Joseph, Senior, after having given Joseph, Junior the command to go and do, returns to his other necessary work and turns his back, because he totally trusts his son to complete the tasks. In the same way, Heavenly Father sent His Son to earth to be the Savior and then returned to us, because He still was OUR Father, too. We needed His attention right then, and He could trust His Son to do all that He was commanded to do.
