We've been so hot. 80s to near 90s. Way hotter than normal. All the leaves bloomed and leafed out in one day. I mowed the lawn yesterday. I could see right away that I needed to level the deck and sharpen the blades. I have "corn rows" in my yard now. I had gotten down on my hands and knees and pulled clover around the mail box, the rock, and some other areas I can't get to with the lawn tractor. And my allergies naturally (get it?) went berserk. Ahh, spring time in Tennessee. Didn't see any black snakes, yet. That's a sign that the nice weather is here for good.
Now the rain has started. It came in this morning and will leave early this evening. We need it. We have a few wild fires burning in the mountains where the trees have not leafed out, yet. The last thing, they need, though is the erratic winds and lightning of the thunderstorms around.
Last night at institute and this morning we talked about the Savior's visit to the America's in 3 Nephi 17. He wept from joy, from sorrow, from gratitude. And I believe he smiled and laughed at the children. I wish I had been there. Why was I born today in the most wicked period of the earth's history? On the most wicked planet in all creation? But I am a man and do sin in my wish. I should be content to live here and now. I truly AM grateful for all my blessings, too numerous to mention.

I'm up to 1,640 miles from home. Approaching Winnipeg. I went to the web site Jamee gave me on the Crash Test Dummies. It was great. Thanks, Jamee. Maybe, when I reach Winnipeg in the next day or so, I'll go out to a Canadian food place and eat a meal to celebrate. I love Canadian food. Oh, wait. Canadian food. Does anyone know where to get moose burgers?

Below is a video from Steinbach, Manitoba. It's by a German person taken in the summer of 2008. On youtube.com it says "Houses and streets" in German. It's really boring. Morristown is way, way more interesting. Ahem. But I love the song playing. It's called "Heartbreaks" by The Knife. I have a ton of Knife songs on my ipod. Love them.

Did I send you al the knife songs or did you get them somewhere else? Cant remember... and if you want moose burger, Kiruna is the palce you want to go! In a month or so the snow will have melted. Enjoy!
So for winter/spring prediction we turn to a groundhog, and for warm weather prediction we turn to black snakes? The snakes should protest--they didn't get a day named after them, and so far no one has approached them for movie rights. Stinking unfair!
Speaking of black snakes. I remember a time when the power went out in Talbott and when they restored the power they said a black snake had crawled into the transformer area and fried. Ummm...how did they know it was a black snake? Wouldn't ANY snake be black after that experience?
Anna, yes, The Knife songs are all from you. Tusen tack min lilla vän! I still have most of the songs you left behind. In fact, I'm helping to spread the Sigur Ros songs around and making them more famous. You should try "The Avalanches". They are a great group, too. I recommend, "Since I left you" and "Frontier Psychiatry". That right up your alley. The videos are a must.
And Trudy, I remember that event. If it had been a garter snake, they would have found it around some poor woman's leg, and both would have been fried to a crisp. See? Sheesh. Think a little, woman.
