Another day, same story

Worked 9 hours yesterday. Was going to go home a bit early so I could sleep before my midnight shift tonight, but ended up with unexpected emails and other work, so I stayed. Even longer.

Then I drove my motorcycle battery to the shop to have them check it out. Might be dead. Have to get it working before I can start the bike and ride it back to the shop to have the fuel cap drilled out so I can get a new one. Then they'll likely have to clean out the fuel tank, etc. One of these days, I'll get the little things fixed. Still, it's a great bike.

Been raining like seemingly forever. As of July 30, I've had over 7 inches of rain at the house, with more tonight. Wonder what the total will be?

I came home and, of course, didn't go straight to bed at 6 p.m. So I watched tv and ate dinner and then laid down about 8, and slept in a Dr. Pepper induced fit. Weird dreams and headaches. Then I got up at 10 p.m. to ride my bike. Rode 18 miles to the 432 mile mark. This puts me in the vicinity of Mechanicsburg, Manson, and Fickle, Indiana. Here is a picture of the man for whom Manson is named after and it's not Marilyn:

Here is an article on Isaac Fickle, the guy who founded Fickle. Interesting bit.

Then here is a piece about Mechanicsburg, or rather, the one in Boone County. There is at least one more [my comments in brackets]: "The town straddles Sugar Creek, where Indiana State Road 39 crosses the stream. About two thirds of the residences, and the town's only church, are south of the stream. [north side of town must be rough] There was a second bridge over Sugar Creek, which carried Burg Street, but this was demolished sometime between 1980 and 2000. [they don't know when? Just sometime during a 20 year period?] Mechanicsburg has one of the few remaining operational drive-in theaters, Mel's Drive-in (formerly the Lebanon-Frankfort Drive-in Theater)." [Well. There you go.]

Cindy, it's been clean. Not like you like it, but clean, anyway. I'm not worried.

Mindy, it depends on the resistence setting. If it's tough pedal, then you are going faster and farther. If it's set to easy resistence, then you are going slower and...less farther. When I have it set moderately high, I end up going about 20 mph. At the easy resistence, I go about 15. At the much higher, it's about 24 mph. At 25 mph, I can really feel the burn and have to concentrate on pushing. So I end up pedaling, on average, about 18 miles in one work out. You probably do at least 20 in a spin class of one hour. Your teacher might know more.
