The Five Musketeers

Let me make some quick observations about my grandkids.

The other day, Carter was making some observations about his clothing, what matched and how it felt. He is very aware of this. Olivia has other things on her mind. As he was commenting, I overheard O mutter to herself as she shook her head and turned away, "Oh, brother..."

Carter was going to eat hot lunch for the first time the other day. Jamee was not sure if he knew the process of obtaining a hot lunch. Carter was not worried. "It's ok, Mom. I'll just ask the Indians. They know how." Sure enough. They walked him through it.

I asked Brigham what he liked. "I like knives, guns, weapons, bombs, grenades, soldiers who shoot bad guys, and cute little baby duckies!"

Jacob says nothing at all when he's sleeping or just looking around. When he is hungry, he says, "waaaaaaaah!" in a very high pitched whistle almost. He is the dark haired silent Musketeer. So far.

Beau finally got used to me the last time I was there. I would grab his arm and keep him from getting away. He learned it was a game. I would ALMOST keep him but he would manage to escape. Then I'd grab him when he walked by and we'd do it again. Then I got tired of it and stopped. Suddenly there he was sticking his arm in my hand. Cracked me up. I ignored him, and he shoved his arm in my hand. So I played along. Then he'd come back and do it all over again. If I did not go along, he forced me "capture" him.

You have amazing grandkids. I am so unbelievably excited to meet them. I just wish there were a way to spell out just exactly how Brigham sounded when he said those words. I love the story about Beau. Karl used to get so uptight with the kids when they were little when they would keep trying to bring him back to a game/activity that he had initiated with them because he felt that it no longer held any magic if it were forced. But I found it immensely endearing that they were working so hard to recreate that moment with him. Good job Boppa Poopy that you saw the opportunity in this and found some magic for yourself!
