I'm much better now, thanks.

All things come and go, it seems. Just seems like it will never go away when you are in the middle of it. I'm much better now. Interestingly, working on midnights has helped, since there are other people here. I went back to WW tonight and had only gained a pound during all these histrionics. That was nice, actually. I also started playing racquetball with a guy at work. Can't play regularly since shift workers never have the same schedule. But it's fun. The first time we played three games and he beat me 15-0, 15-0, 15-0. I got a lot of exercise and he did not. He stood in the middle of the room and hit the ball to where I was not, so that I got all the exercise.

The next time we played and he beat me 15-3, 15-2, 15-2. Hey! Here I come, pal!

This last time we played when I woke up from my first midnight shift. That's like waking up at 3 a.m. and playing racquetball. Try it.

He beat me 15-0, 15-0, and a short game of 7-0. But during the second game I actually got the serve back several times. I just can't score when I serve. Still, I am getting exercise and he is not. Take THAT Bainbridge Scholars! (A prize for the first person to give me the movie that's from.)

Went back to the gym and worked out like a maniac (or should I say "like a manic"? Pun intended.) today and then rode my exercise bike when I got home, for a total of 25 miles on my trip odometer. This brings me the town which has the best name of any town in the whole world: Humptulips, Washington. We've actually been there. It's on the way to the coast from Olympia.

Well, better go. It's the midnight shift and I'm in charge and something might happen. Well, not really.

The Mummy. I use this line all the time. Glad you are feeling better. VERY nice on the exercise/getting healthy front.

I should have known you'd get this, because
1) You watch movies all the time.
2) You sometimes communicated with other people and perhaps even others using only movie lines.
3) You are the only one up at this hour.

Hey.
1. It is not that I "watch movies all the time". The term is "culturally literate".
2. Yer killin' me Smalls. There is nothing wrong with the fact that I have a couple of friendships in which we occasionally speak in Celluloidian. The language of the movie is rich and varied and conveys thought and emotion in a concise and even precise fashion.
3. I will sleep when I'm dead. (Yes, I have been known to be fluent in the language of the lyric as well...it Cures many ills...I'm just sayin'...)

PS. Thank you for the distraction on another sleepless night before a seminar presentation.)

One more thing. Your blog may be a comfort to me in the wee hours of my sleepless nights, but to your family it is infinitely precious. Please consider printing at least some of these posts out and putting them in a notebook for posterity. I don't know if any of your girls are scrapbookers (I say that very tongue in cheek, because I could not scrapbook to save my life, but my daughter does beautiful work), but perhaps this could be a project for somebody. Just a thought, from the journal maniac.

Sorry it took so long to post this comment, Cynthia. I am not used to moderating.
