I had to post this.

I was not going to write again today. Two blog posts in one day seems a bit much, but...

In our stake, there is a program for people who cannot attend church during their regular ward hours. There are so many shift workers here, in the mines, the hospital, etc. And me.

So they hold a sacrament meeting at the stake center in the Relief Society room. It starts at 8:30 pm and lasts about a half hour.

Tonight we started a bit late as people were still arriving at 8:35. This is how it went.

Welcome by the one armed high councilman, dressed in a suit, who also presided.

Opening hymn, accompanied by a women dressed in a dress, who was obviously learning to play the piano.

Hymn led by a woman dressed in jeans, tennies, and her nurse smock, who had obviously just arrived there from the hospital.

Opening prayer by a woman in church dress, who arrived there with her husband, dressed in miners clothes.

Announcements by the presiding high councilman.

Sacrament song

Sacrament blessed and passed by two men who had been asked at the last minute to do so, one dressed in a suit, the other in his dusty jeans, boots, and cowboy shirt, who had obviously just arrived from somewhere dirty.

A five minute talk on gratitude by the high councilman, on assignment from the stake president.

Closing hymn by the same two women as before.

Closing prayer by me.

Total in attendance about 15.

It was the most spiritual sacrament meeting I've ever attended. (I mean it.)

I might just go there from now on. That way I can hide from the bishop. (I don't mean it.)

You should bring it up to the stake president. It is a great thing. If he wants some input, give him my phone number and I'll tell him my experience.
