Sorry I've been absent

Sorry I've been so long between blogs. I have not even read yours. I miss you guys.

I rode or walked about 27 miles since last blog for a total of 3300 miles since I started. This puts me almost to Battle Mountain, NV.

I've been reading the scriptures with an eye to finding types of Christ in them. They appear everywhere if you look.

The latest I've found is in 1 Nephi, chapter 1, verse 6. Lehi goes forth and prays with his whole heart on behalf of his people and has a powerful spiritual experience, in which he hears and sees much. I suspect he heard and saw things which he had never seen or heard before and it profoundly affected him. Not only that, it scared badly. It also wipe him out physically so that he was exhausted after.

It says, "Wherefore it came to pass that my father, Lehi, as he went forth prayed unto the Lord, yea, even with all his heart, in behalf of his people. And it came to pass as he prayed unto the Lord, there came a pillar of fire and dwelt upon a rock before him; and he saw and heard much; and because of the things which he saw and heard he did quake and tremble exceedingly. And it came to pass that he returned to his own house at Jerusalem; and he cast himself upon his bed, being overcome with the Spirit and the things which he had seen."'

I see this in the Savior's experience in Gethsemane. He went forth and prayed with all his heart on behalf of his people, which are all of us. When he prayed, a powerful spiritual experience came to him in the form of being attacked by devils, all the devils everywhere. They dropped everything and came to Gethsemane. There was no point if tempting people in other places. They could sin on their own for a bit. This was the moment. The meridian of time. The reason for it all. Win or lose at this moment in this place.

But Father did not leave him completely alone. He allowed an angel to come and encourage him. Whether Father had to walk away and turn his face away I don't know and don't care. Whether that angel came in response to a command from Father or just on his, or her, own because he loved the Savior and needed him to succeed, I don't know.

But, what if that angel were YOU? Hmmm? Wouldn't each one of us want the Savior to succeed? Wouldn't we each be willing to support him, carry his cross, bear his burden, encourage him, pray with and for him, stand up to the Romans and the Sanhedrin and Judas?

And then Lehi quaked and trembled exceedingly. So did the Savior. Stop right now and read Doctrine and Covenants 19:15-19 and see how the Savior described his experience in Gethsemane. It was horrible. Beyond words. We cannot understand. The only way we ever can is to have to atone for our own sins, which is not really possible, but still we'll be given a shot at it, if we don't repent here.

So both Lehi and the Savior were overcome with the things they experienced in their unique situations. Lehi's did not compare with the Savior's in degree, but perhaps in likeness.

And in the end, Lehi was delivered from it, and give an astoundingly wonderful experience. So was the Savior, obviously.

How are we seeking spiritual experiences? What are we willing to ask for and live up to?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts today on the Lehi and Christ. You've helped me find types of Christ in the scriptures. Sometimes it's hard but it comes so easy to you! It's one of your many gifts...

We want to see you soon.
And Stevie and Beau.

How is it that I read your blogs and I either end up snorting or bawling, or BOTH?! Now there are tears. In fact, a large number of tears. I cannot let myself to be so weak as to allow the actions of others to keep me from my own appointed rounds with my talents and my repentance. I have been doing this. I will stop playing victim and be a big girl. Thank you! Dude, get out of Battle Mountain as soon as possible...I'm just sayin'!
