Ice storm

We got hit with about a quarter inch of ice last night and today. I woke up at
4:30 am because Loni had to know about whether college was late or closed on her finals day, and I had an important training session I was conducting over the internet to several weather offices. And it was icing up outside. When the sun came up, we saw a beautiful and horrible sight. The world was armored in ice. The driveway was a river of ice. You can see in the picture where the water flowed into the street and then froze. Loni's car was covered in the stuff. The plants were covered, our crepe myrtle and clematus were covered. They turned out pretty, because the ice difracted the flash of the camera. Below are a few pictures. I never made it to work. Have to take a vacation, as there is no such thing as a bad weather day for meteorologists. You just go. Fortunately, I was not forecasting today, so I could call in. Loni's classes were finally canceled so she took her final online. She has to take another one tomorrow at 8 am. I have to be at work. And although it finally melted a little today, it will re-freeze overnight tonight. I did go out at 4:30 am and salt the driveway. Then I went out at 6 pm and started Loni's car and defroster, and shoveled the entire driveway full of slushy ice.

Oh my gosh! That is so crazy! I think it is really pretty and cool on the plants and stuff. They mentioned it on the radio station I like to listen to in the mornings here, so I am really glad you posted some pics. Thanks! Cool to look at but you can't really go anywhere. Or can you? Love you guys!!! I'll be there soon:)
