A small miracle

First, I'm in Randolph, UT on my bike trip. I wrote about it before. 17 degrees in August. Nice.

Today I drove to Nashville with my boss, starting at 0600. Got there for a meeting at 1000. Meeting with TVA, Corps of Engineers, and various NWS factions. Great meeting. Lots done, working lunch. Left around 1600, got back at 2000. Very tired. While I was in the conference room, I saw them bring in juice, water, and soda pop. I went over and grabbed a couple of little OJ's and a water. I saw the pop that it was all either sugary or caffeinated. I had made a commitment to not drink caffeine, but just this once, I mean I am so sleepy and I have to drive home since George drove there. I was tempted and did lust after the diet coke. So I took a little break and walked out into the hallway. There was this little hospitality center with cereal from the morning, some condiments, and a cooler case full of free soda pop. I was immediately drawn to the coke zero, and the diet coke galore. I again lusted after one.

Then I thought, "No. I do not want to waste all the consecutive days I have gone so far. I don't want to start over at zero. No caffeine." At that very moment I spotted a familiar can. Diet Caffeine Free Doctor Pepper. One lone cane. All by itself screaming, "PICK ME OH PICK ME! I WAS PUT HER BY MIRACULOUS INTERVENTION FOR JUST THIS MOMENT! PICK ME PICK ME!"

So I did and thanked God for his loving kindness and for watching over me in small ways that bring about great things.

Now, to find ways to apply this lesson to my life. Loni pointed out that I had to make the first move and God followed up with a blessing.

Way to stick to your commitment! And in my opinion, caffiene free dr. pepper trumps the other sodas in flavor any day. Yum! Keep up the good work. =D

It's true. What Loni said. WE do our part and then he does his in "a very powerful, we would have never thought of that, this is better than what I thought of," way. And our part usually seems so small after he does his part-especially when his part seems so immediate.
